The 60-Second Sabbath

Dirk deVries

Same Life

(Written in May of 1980.)

We're all the same.

We share the same dreams
    and the same insecurities,
the same fears and worries.

Why are some immobilized
    by their fear and insecurity?

Why do others,
    acknowledging their fear and insecurity,
plow ahead?

Most of us fall in the middle,
    sometimes blocked, sometimes not.

But this I believe:
    those who move forward

are just as frightened and insecure
    as I am.

They struggle too,
   battling uphill.

What now for me?
