The Madness of Love

I understand (in my own way, at least) something of the "madness of love," the inexplicable, irrational force of love, which continues, without apparent purpose or source, to drive us toward something–justice, for example, or growth, wholeness, connection. The madness of love pulls us, often without our intention or awareness, to see unity where others see only fragmentation, beauty where others see squalor, hope where others see despair, possibility where others see only disintegration and decay. It comes from somewhere other than ourselves, and all we can do is allow its movement through us. This is madness. It is transcendental insanity.
