Draw close to God because God is God.

Don't do it because you fear God. Don't do it to please God. Don't do it to appease God.

Do it simply because you delight in God, find joy in God, wonder at God.

Don't do it to save your skin, find favor, secure eternity, deliver your soul. All that is self-serving and about you.

Instead, let it be about God: the generosity of God, the beauty of God, the poetry of God, the grandeur of God, the creativity of God, the variety of God, the passion of God, the intimacy of God, the embrace of God, the mercy of God, the mystery of God, the stillness in God…
