We view the past
only through the lens of the present.
Can we trust this perspective?
In the photo below,
that which is modern
shapes our vision of that which is old
as the sleek glass of a contemporary skyscraper
reflects classic New York architecture.
Only a streetlight grounds us
with its lack of distortion,
assuring us that what we see is, indeed, real.
Or is it?
