First, Happy Birthday to me! Today I turn 58. I'm celebrating with Tim in Las Vegas. If you want to send flowers, we're staying at the Luxor, but really, I'd rather you took me out for a nice lunch at some point.

Second, an apology. My goal since August 31, 2010, was to post original text and one of my photos every day for a year. Turns out I posted a photo belonging to my good friend and fellow photographer Beth–a picture of my cat Willy, which you'll find on October 14, 2010 (see the Archives, to the right). Until Easter, when Beth came for dinner, I proudly thought this fine photo was mine.

It's particularly distressing because it's my favorite photo of Willy, and I didn't take it! I like it so much I printed, matted and framed it. So to Beth: sorry I took credit when the credit was yours, but thanks for a fantastic portrait. At some point I will replace it with a photo of my own, meanwhile, thanks for the loan!
