I Am a Poet

I finally said it yesterday:
"I am a poet."

I said it without discounting or qualifying,
without minimizing, fencing or shrinking:
I'm a poet.
I write poetry.

What are you that you can't yet say aloud?
painter? author? woodworker?
gardener? chef? photographer?
scholar? theologian? meditator?
yogi? mystic? athlete?

child of God?

Say it aloud.
Know the truth.

    Hello, I was amazed when I came across this because on June 27 I wrote those words in my journal, “I am a poet”. I have finally accepted this about myself, that I have the heart of a poet. Thank you for posting your poems and photographs; I viewed many of them, and many of them resonate with me (particularly the simplest prayer – a sigh – how very, very true.) I will keep checking back. Thank you, most sincerely, please keep doing what you are doing.
