There is the truth we need today
to stay the course, to find our way.
Tomorrow's truth may vary some;
we cannot know the truth to come.

What's true today is meant to be
but truth enough, the truth to see
us through this current mess
before tomorrow's fresh distress.

So give me truth enough for now–
tomorrow's truth will change somehow
to meet the needs of one more crush,
that very well may make me blush
that what I thought was true today
so quickly yields and fades away
replaced by deeper, keener ken.

Of learning truth there is no end.
