The Declaration of Independence
announced our independence
from oppression,
not our disconnection
from the people of the world
or the earth and its beauty.

We now need
a Declaration of Dependence:
we are one;
our lives are forever intertwined;
your pain is ours;
the earth's sorrow is our sorrow. 

Our home is not above,
it is here.
