When I serve you tuna casserole,
or a toasted English muffin,
or a chilled martini up with a twist,
I don't just serve you,
I also serve the Beloved.
When I iron a shirt,
it's not only your shirt,
it's also a shirt to be worn by the Beloved.
When, on my morning walk to work,
I pause to greet a dog and its owner,
I'm also pausing to greet the Beloved.
When I observe the glowing disk of the full moon,
rising behind the black branches of a winter tree,
I gaze upon the glowing face of the Beloved.
Today, dress the whole world in God.
