Temporary Homeless Shelter

I live in a condo,
with heat in the winter,
and hot water (most of the time),
and a comfortable bed (beginning to sag),
but ultimately
it's fate, luck, the grace of God
that keeps me here.

I don't deserve this,
any more than the people in the photo below
deserve to be living on the street.

These spaces we occupy
are simply temporary homeless shelters.

We imagine permanence,
but delude ourselves.

Wow…you took me from my writing about the Flint River to such a different place. We are complacent aren’t we?I love my nest and expect to have it forever until the day”they take you where you do not wish to go.”Perhaps, I need to be praying for my homeless brothers.Thank you ….
