All is metaphor.
God,
the Divine,
the Transcendent,
Truth
(however you choose to define and label
that which is beyond us)
surrounds us,
ready to lead, guide, teach.
All of life is metaphor if you'll open to it.
See the way the puppy looks
to its owner
with frustration, immediacy, adoration?
So I am invited
to be with God.
Hear (once again)
the (often perceived as annoying)
strains of "It's a Small World"?
It's a short-course vision
of the world united as God intends–
as it actually is in God's greater, underlying reality.
The rain?
The cleansing and refreshing of your spirit.
The dark silence of the city at 2 AM in the morning?
The soul, vulnerable, empty, quiet before the unknown and holy.
The mountain trail
disappearing into a grove of golden aspen?
Our continuing journey toward deeper meaning and stillness.
The making of your dinner?
The marvelous way
the disparate, disjointed, aspects of ourselves
come together, uniquely and tastily,
to become something delightful and nourishing for the world.
And so on…
All is metaphor,
revealing the ultimately satisfying heart of God
at the center of the world.
