I spent my life
seeking you,
my soul-friend.
At first you seemed to me
a mirror
reflecting my history,
my loss,
my courage.
Now I know
you are the voice of sustenance,
challenge,
nurture.
Who knew
that consent
would be so easy,
so stabilizing,
so salvific?
