    the blinds fly up;
the shutters swing open;
    light dawns for Peter:

    God has made it clear to me
        that I must not call anyone
    profane or unclean.

Quite the revelation, Pete!

How often do I
    (reading Facebook posts,
watching the news,
    standing in the line at Safeway)
condemn, dismiss, lessen the value of another?

Too damn often.

    No one in my world
        is profane or unclean.

And then Paul makes it clear
    that God's "Godness"
can be seen
    "in all the things
that God has made":

all of creation, sacred–
    people and planets,
plants and protesters,
    policemen and prostitutes,
Poptarts and pickled herring–
    sacred–
all of it.

Richard Rohr:

    We live in a sacred and enchanted universe.

I love that.

God within and God without,
    and me smack dab in the middle of it.
