Psalm 64  opens with a curious request:

    Here my voice, O God,
        when I complain…

The psalmist then does indeed complain,
    about how poorly he's treated,
    about the evil done by his enemies.

And so, following the psalmist's example:

    Here me, O God,
        when I whine,
        when I grumble,
        when I moan,
        when I lament,
        when I vent…

    Here me, O God,
        when I feel overwhelmed,
        when I feel betrayed,
        when I feel misunderstood,
        when I feel pressured and oppressed…

The psalmist ends
    by affirming his/her confidence in God.
He/she sounds a bit too vindictive
    for my taste,
but still, there is God–
    trustworthy,
    loving,
    just,
    and above all, present.

My point is simply this:
    it's okay to complain.
God's love for us doesn't wax and wane
    depending on our attitude
at any given moment.

God's love is life's one constant
    and extends through our bad days
as well as our good,
    whether we're grousing or rejoicing.
