I hear bird song.
I hear a bird–
singing.
Not a grackle-cackle,
nor a starling-squawk,
nor even a wren-chirp,
but a song.
I don't remember hearing it before;
mellifluous,
melodious,
fluid:
crystal-clear, running, watery stream,
pure-colored, rainbow joy,
flowing note-to-note
with absolute pitch and clarity,
never faltering.
Six…eight notes?
Over and over again…
Water me;
smoothly carry me
from this moment to the next.
Bathe me in the thrill
of your compositional genius.
Ah, what a perfect,
simple,
just-right tune.
Sing on,
you unexpected instrument
of natural, musical perfection.
I stand in awe.
I love this,
and I love you.
