The 60-Second Sabbath

On Happiness

I once had  a friend
challenge the notion,
that happiness
should be a goal in life.

    (This is a friend,
    I might point out,
    totally mystified by my enthusiasm
    for things Disney.)

But guess what?
Turns out that happy people
    are more flexible and creative,
    pay more attention,
    build stronger relationships,

better cope with life's ups and downs,
    have higher self-esteem,
    more easily acquire new skills,
contribute more to the world around them,
    have fewer strokes,

suffer fewer colds,

live longer,
    a
nd solve problems more easily.
